Will a EF lens fit on my EOS (canon) camera?

I own a Canon EOS Rebel XS, with an 18-55mm lens. I am looking for a new lens with a lower aperture (higher than 2.8).
And i think i found one, but it is an EF canon lens.
Will it work on my EOS camera? what is the difference between EOS

EOS is the Canon camera system name.

EF are the Canon lenses made for the EOS system, all Canon EOS cameras can use EF lenses
EF-S are also Canon lenses, but can only be used on Canon EOS cameras that have APS-C sensors, not full
